It added 17 new carriers throughout the world in the quarter, with distribution now in 86 countries around the world. The company says its growth in Japan, the UK, Australia, France, Germany “is strong”. Interestingly, Apple claims that 70% of Fortune 200 companies are “deploying iPhones to employees”. Delays in App Store approval is “about protecting consumer privacy, and to protect children - pornography is rejected outright. But most rejections are bugs in the code itself. This is to protect the customers and the developer. The noise is much higher than the reality. We’re doing pretty good.” Apple has over 100 000 apps in the store and 90% are approved within 14 days of submission. As for China, Apple says it doesn’t “usually disclose units by country. But … will here. We started at the end of October/beginning of November. Earlier this month we passed the 200 000 unit mark that we’ve activated. We’re very focused on point of sale and customer experience, so we’re moving slow. We’re focused on the long term in that market. I won’t forecast on new partners, but we’re happy with China Unicom.”
