Fastest texters in SA head to New York for the LG Mobile World Cup
Two South Africans who recently took top honours in the local leg of the LG Mobile World Cup will be representing the country in New York next month.
Natalie Witoslowski (20) of Rustenberg and Kgothatso Moerane (22) of Pretoria will jet off to Manhattan compete at the LG Mobile World Cup 2010 against two competitors from each of the other 12 competing countries – one in the numeric category and one from the QWERTY category.
The LG Mobile World Cup will see 26 finalists from 13 countries compete to prove their mobile texting skills based on speed and accuracy to win a total of $100 000 and claim the title as the world’s fastest texter.
Witoslowski won the national leg of the competition in the numeric category whilst Moerane snatched victory in the QWERTY category, each winning a grand prize of R30 000 and the title of national champion for LG Mobile World Cup 2009 South Africa.
“I can’t live without my phone, it is an extension of my life and I go crazy if I don’t have network. I am so excited to see New York and hope it lives up to what I have seen in The Devil Wears Prada”, says Moerane.
This year’s competition has been extended to countries like Russia, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa and Spain.
The LG Mobile World Cup championship will be held from 12 to 15 January 2010 at Gotham Hall.
